Int@j and MoICT adopted in the survey UN and OECD definition of the ICT and ITES sector and the sector’s activities based on ISIC 4.0 classification. The survey was conducted electronically through a web enabled solution and targeted all IT and ITES companies in Jordan.

The 2011 survey results indicated that the Total IT revenue exceeded 738 Million US Dollars of which exports revenue exceeded 230.5 Million US Dollars indicating a 14% growth rate in export revenues leading to 1% growth rate in total revenue from previous year (2010). With respect to the distribution of Export revenues regionally and globally, the survey results reflect the increased demand in the GCC market of Jordan ICT products and services, mainly in Saudi Arabia. Revenues generated from exports were distributed as follows: Saudi Arabia (39%), USA (9%), UAE (8.5%), Iraq (6%), Qatar (4%), Oman (4%), Netherlands (3%), Palestine (3%), UK (2%), and Sudan (2%). the remaining of export revenues were distributed between 48 regional and international countries..

int@j (Information Technology Association of Jordan) is an ICT industry-support association that embraces Jordan s ICT businesses, with a mission to promote their advancement on a local and international level, and enhance their capacity and performance. This goes in parallel with improving the dynamics of Jordan s ICT market and catalyzing all Jordan s ICT related activities. On top of that, int@j largely contributes to influencing ICT policies and strategies.

int@j has grown from 53 members in 2000 to over 143 in mid 2006. Membership is open to all companies operating in Jordan in the fields of Software development, support, application, telecommunications, value added assembly and distribution of ICT products and services, as well as suppliers and users to these industries, and to universities and others supporting ICT training and promotion. Members in int@j range from the largest software developer, to many smaller start-up companies, employing more than 10000 employees.

At its inception back in 2000, int@js efforts were directed to devise a comprehensive framework for the ICT sector of Jordan, in response to a challenge put forward by his Majesty King Abdullah II in 1999 for the private and public sector to prioritize the development of the sector. The outcome was REACH initiative ( Jordan s ICT blueprint) that was devised by int@j and supported by the Ministry of ICT and non-governmental donors (AMIR-USAID).

REACH is Jordan s national strategy for developing a vibrant, export-oriented, and an internationally competitive ICT sector that can successfully attract investment and generate high value jobs. The strategy paves the way for Jordan to become a technology center in the region.
